2010: New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees passed Archie Manning for the most career PASS YDS (21,734) in Saints franchise history. Brees retired with 68,010 PASS YDS for the Saints which still stands as the franchise record today

2008: Denver Nuggets SF Carmelo Anthony tied George Gervin’s NBA record for points in a quarter by scoring 33 of his 45 points in the 3rd quarter of a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Klay Thompson has since set the record at 37 PTS in 1 Qtr

2006: San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson tied and broke the NFL record for the most TD (29) scored in a season, surpassing Shaun Alexander’s record (28) from the previous year. Tomlinson added 2 more TD the next week with 31 still standing as the NFL record

1996: Detroit Pistons PF Terry Mills’ NBA-record streak of 13 consecutive successful 3PAs finally ended in a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. It has been tied 2x but has never been surpassed to this day

1994: New York Jets WR Art Monk made a reception in his 178th consecutive game, setting a new NFL record. Monk’s record of 183 consecutive games with a REC was surpassed by Jerry Rice who owns the record at 274 games

1989: Seattle Seahawks WR Steve Largent recorded his 100th and final career reception TD to become the NFL’s all-time leader at the time. Largent’s 100 REC TD is now tied for 9th in NFL history

1985: Indiana Pacers converted the fewest FGM (19) during 1 game in the NBA’s shot clock era as they lost to the New York Knicks 82-64

1972: The AL voted to adopt a 3-year trial of the designated-hitter rule which would become permanently adopted in 1975 and revolutionized the offensive side of baseball forever

1935: Philadelphia Athletics sold former 2x MVP and future MVP 1B Jimmie Foxx to the Boston Red Sox for $150,000. Foxx controversially chose to enter the Hall of Fame in 1951 with a Boston hat despite a more productive career in Philly
