The Yankees-Mets delivered not only one Game of the Day candidate, but two popcorn worthy events. In the first game of Sunday’s double-header, the Yankees were down to their final out while trailing by FIVE runs. But as they say, the “Mets are gonna Mets.” After error after wild pitch after error after HBP, etc., Aaron Hicks launched a game-tying shot and Gio Urshela inevitably walked it off in the very next inning.
Then in the game immediately after, Deivi Garcia made his MLB debut in extremely impressive fashion as he became the youngest pitcher in Yankees franchise history to make his debut with 6+ IP and 1 run or fewer allowed. Another extra innings game would follow as El Gary would be responsible for the Grand Finale.
