Before even stepping foot on a collegiate field, Trevor Lawrence was one of the most highly sought-after prospects in recent memory. Breaking many of Deshaun Watson‘s Georgia state records, Lawrence cemented his status as the nation’s top recruit with 41 TD and just a single INT as a senior. Ultimately choosing to attend Clemson over Georgia, it wouldn’t be long before “Sunshine” took the college football world by storm.

Stuck behind Kelly Bryant upon arrival, Trevor saw action in each of the 1st 4 games as a backup, then was handed the reins and never looked back. Completing the 1st 15-0 season in college football history, the Tigers smoked the vaunted Crimson Tide 44-16 in the CFP Final. Back the next season with another 13-0 record, he led a valiant comeback against Ohio State in order to meet Joe Burrow and the other Tigers.

The historic LSU offense quashed the repeat bid and handed Lawrence his very first collegiate loss, but Clemson picked right back up where they left off in 2020. The team’s only loss came at Notre Dame, while Trevor was ineligible due to COVID-19 protocol, and Clemson returned to the CFP as the #2 seed. Faced with a rematch of the Buckeyes and fellow top QB Justin Fields, the Tigers fell short in Lawrence’s career finale.

Looking toward his future in the NFL, the hype is unimaginable. While a gifted passer with great size, Lawrence still has room for growth. Needing a continued focus on pre-snap diagnosis, his footwork can also get a bit wayward when pressured, which has led to a number of air-mailed throws and head-scratching misses. Though most of his mistakes were often innocuous and harmless, disregarding them altogether doesn’t give the fullest picture.

Whether he’s in Jacksonville or New England, Super Bowls will be expected from the most highly-touted prospect in recent history. Possessing an exceptional blend of physical gifts, intelligence, drive, and intangible leadership traits, Lawrence would warrant the top pick in any draft class. Displaying a mastery of Clemson’s power-spread offense, he not only thrived within the scheme’s structure but also salvaged broken plays when going off-script. A premier prospect, Lawrence is a lock for the No.1 pick and now the MVP, Super Bowl, and even HOF expectations begin before even playing a snap of NFL football.

Pro Comp: Andrew Luck (Retired in 2019)

Projected Round: No. 1 Pick

Prime Destinations: JAX, NYJ

OVERALL Grade: A+
