Ranger Suarez burst onto the scene in 2021 with one of the best seasons by a Swingman ever recorded. A swingman is a pitcher who starts and comes into games as a relief pitcher. His ERA (1.36) was the lowest with more than 10 Games Started & 20 Games as a Relief Pitcher in MLB history, along with a bevy of other history he made due to his pristine ERA. Suarez is a Manager’s best friend by being available to start or relieve depending on what the team needs and doing it at such a high level. Suarez’s stock went up big time in 2021.

  • Ranger Suarez had the lowest ERA (1.36) with 10+ GS & 20+ GP as a RP in MLB history
  • Lowest ERA with 100+ IP by a Phillies Pitcher since 1915 & 100+ IP by a MLB Pitcher since 1971
  • Was the 1st RP to have 12+ GS & 12+ GP since 1913
  • Suarez was the 1st RP with 10+ GS & 10+ GP since 1918
  • Before 2021, did not start an MLB game since 2018

RANGER SUAREZ HAD A HISTORIC 2021 SEASON FOR THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Swingmen are some of the most underrated players in the MLB, with the uncertainty that goes along with not knowing their specific role which could change on a weekly basis. Ranger Suarez put up a historic season in 2021 despite having to start and relieve in games. Suarez’s ability to prevent Runs (1.36 ERA) was remarkable all season long and almost helped lead the Phillies to the playoffs. Given the southpaw’s success in 2021, expect more of a defined role for Suarez going forward with either on the table.
