May 5th, 2021 was highlighted by John Means’ historic no-hitter for the Orioles, ending the longest active no-hitter drought in the MLB as he threw the first no-hitter that was a dropped 3rd strike away from a Perfect Game in MLB history. Ja Morant and Anthony Edwards had an epic battle that showed how bright the future of the Association is.

Kyle Finnegan threw an immaculate inning, the Dodgers bullpen collapsed again in an extra-innings lost to the Cubs, and Jesse Winker’s walk-off gave Cincy the win. The Tigers and Indians picked up late victories during a highly entertaining day in the MLB. Russell Westbrook (triple-double) and Bradley Beal (40 points) both went off, but it wasn’t enough against the Bucks.

See what happened in sports on May 5th last year, headlined by Frank Gore heading to the Jets, Quincy Enunwa getting placed on PUP, and the Ravens adding Pernell McPhee. This daily sports article includes real headlines only (no clickbait rumors), all of the best highlights, interesting facts from around the NFL, NBA, & MLB, the main games to watch, top performances of the day, notable birthdays, and a quick recap of significant events on this day in sports history.
