October 21, 2022 was highlighted by the Phillies moving one step closer as they won NLCS Game 3 by a score of 4-2. Todd Gurley officially retired from the NFL after six seasons where injuries derailed his All-Pro career. The NBA saw two players set team records, as DeMar DeRozan became the first player in Bulls history with 30+ PTS/5+ REB/5+ AST stat line through each of the first two games and Pascal Siakam collected the most 30-pt triple-doubles (2) in TOR history. Ja Morant dominated again with 49 PTS as an early MVP frontrunner.

The Rangers brought Bruce Bochy out of retirement and made him their new Manager, while the Blue Jays signed interim coach John Schneider to an extension. The NBA saw two duos dominate, as the Trae/Dejounte pairing have now combined for 45 AST through two games, while Tatum/Brown both scored 25+ in each of the first two games. The Knicks won their home-opener 130-106 which is interesting because every time NYK has won the their first home game by 20+ points, they ended up making the Playoffs that year.
