WR Allen Robinson was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and swiftly ascended up the depth chart with a Pro Bowl season in 2015. After missing the 2017 season due to a torn ACL, he decided to leave Jacksonville and sign a three-year deal with the Chicago Bears. Over the course of his young career, Robinson has become one of the best receivers in the NFL at coming down with jump balls and a very trusted target.

Allen Robinson hasn’t necessarily made waves in the NFL as a perennial Pro Bowler, but he has already turned some heads with his impressive ability to make contested grabs. Robinson is one of the best wideouts in the league when it comes to hauling in 50-50 balls, which refer to passes where the receiver and the defender have a roughly even chance at bringing down the football thrown in the air by the QB. Other famous jump ball receivers in NFL history include Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson.

50-50 balls are quite risky because they can just as easily lead to interceptions as they can completions, but with the right matchup, the odds can sway beyond 50% for the offense. The Penn State product in particular often employs his tall frame and incredible vertical to rise above smaller defenders and get in a better position to make the catch. Using his length and athleticism to his advantage, Robinson has established his place among some of the best jump ball receivers in the NFL.
