After Kyrie Irving ultimately decided to opt into the last year of his 4y/$136.5M contract with the Brooklyn Nets, there’s no better time to look at all of the historic accomplishments and greatest records he already owns.

Taken with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, there were lofty expectations placed on the shoulders of Kyrie Irving for a city that had just lost a legend in LeBron James‘ departure to South Beach. After immediately winning 2012 Rookie of the Year, it was clear to the entire league that these expectations would not deter the Duke product. Eventually paired with LeBron a few years later in Cleveland, the pair would go on to set multiple Cavaliers franchise records together, as well as bring the city it’s only NBA championship in 2016.

The 6’2″ guard grew up in Northeast New Jersey, where he was one of the top high school basketball players in his class. Despite only playing 11 games at Duke, his elite skill and craftiness transitioned smoothly into the NBA where he picked up the nickname “Uncle Drew” that became synonymous with schooling someone on the court. Known as one of the best dribblers in the NBA, Irving’s elite ball control and uncanny ability to finish near the basket makes him one of the toughest players ever to defend on the hardwood.

In hopes of returning to championship glory, the Jersey native teamed up with superstar Kevin Durant during 2019 by each signing four-year contracts with the Brooklyn Nets. Alongside KD, Irving quickly set multiple Nets franchise records. Despite some controversial antics and decisions off the court, nobody can question Kyrie’s greatness as a hooper or basketball ‘artist‘ as he may prefer. His craft has become a work of art for b-ball fans to enjoy and his unprecedented level of skill has helped etched his name into many record books.
