In another crazy edition of Thursday Night Football, Aaron Rodgers and a deplete Packers roster edged past the red-hot Arizona Cardinals. Despite the Packers’ passing game being limited due to the absence of a number of wide receivers, including Davante Adams, they were able to take advantage of decisive mistakes by Arizona’s offense to bring home an important victory. Ultimately, the game was decided by a clutch late-game goal-line interception by Rasul Douglas, ending the Cardinals’ unbeaten run (now 7-1).

  • Matt LaFleur has the most Wins (33) through 40 career games as a HC in NFL history
  • Packers vs. Cardinals was the 1st Thursday Night game where each team was on a winning streak of 6+ games in NFL history
  • Packers vs. Cardinals had the best combined WIN% (93%) for a Thursday game during October or later in the Super Bowl era (1966)
  • Aaron Jones has the most total TD (50) through their 1st 5 career seasons of any Green Bay Packers player in the Super Bowl era (1966)
  • Aaron Rodgers is now 7-0 without WR Davante Adams since Matt Lafleur became the HC in 2019

COLORS KEY | FULL PACKERS OUTLOOK

1. RASUL DOUGLAS IS EMERGING AS A LEGIT CB1

After being released numerous times and struggling to find a home since being drafted in 2017, it appears as if Rasul Douglas may have finally carved out a role for himself on the Green Bay Packers. He has only allowed nine receptions for 91 yards on 17 targets in his three games started with Green Bay and sealed the win on Thursday with his goal-line interception.

2. CHASE EDMONDS WILL MAKE BANK AS THE NO. 1 FA RB THIS SEASON

With free agency around the corner for him, Chase Edmonds will be looking to get paid. Shiftiness and speed are at a premium in today’s NFL and Edmonds encompass both of those traits at a high level. Considering the lack of much competition at the RB position in the upcoming free agency scene, Edmonds is poised to land a sizeable contract.

3. CARDINALS DEFENSE IS VERY CAPABLE OF OVERCOMING JJ WATT‘S ABSENCE

While 24 points allowed can be a little misleading, six of those came on terrible turnovers that gave Green Bay the ball within ten yards of the goal line and Arizona’s defense still prevented a touchdown on both those occasions. Furthermore, they came up huge on the game-changing 4th & goal play with 3:30 left. So, while missing JJ Watt is definitely a setback, it appears the Cardinals have enough depth and quality players on their defense to make up for it.
