As New Orleans Saints fans celebrate Marques Colston on his 39th birthday, check out some of the best records to know about the franchise’s GOAT WR.

Taken with the 252nd overall pick in the NFL draft, there were not many expectations for the Hofstra University receiver. After shocking the sports world during his rookie season, the Saints knew they had found a diamond in the rough. Paired with future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, the duo went on to shatter many franchise and league records. In 2009, the duo led New Orleans to their first ever Super Bowl victory.

Growing up in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, Colston opted to stay on the east coast by attending Hofstra in New York. Colston then made an immediate impact after getting drafted to the big easy with plenty of memorable highlights. A calm and collected individual, he was loved in the city of New Orleans. He was a guy that came in and did his work with no questions asked. There are very few wideouts that were as consistent as the 6’4, 225-lb beast was during his prime.

Of course, number 12 reached his biggest milestone in helping the New Orleans Saints win their franchise’s first Super Bowl. His seven receptions for a team-high 83 yards was arguably the best offensive performance on the team. His long frame and silky smooth hands are what helped him make a career in this league. Known as one of the best players to never make it to the Pro Bowl, Colston spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints and cemented himself as one of the greatest seventh-round picks in NFL history.
