As Buccaneers and Patriots fans celebrate Rob Gronkowski for an iconic career after his retirement from the NFL, there’s no better time to look at all of the historic accomplishments and greatest records the legendary Tight End has to his name.

Rob Gronkowski was selected 42nd overall in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Although “Gronk” fell to the second round, and was the second tight end selected, he immediately surpassed expectations and became the best friend, both on and off the field, of Patriots star QB Tom Brady. From there, Gronk hit the ground running, becoming one of the NFL’s most well-known and respected Tight Ends for nearly a decade.

The New York native, and brother of five, chose to attend the University of Arizona, where he broke multiple receiving records during his freshman season. The 6’6 Tight End had a ton of NFL interest but missed his junior season due to a back injury, which hurt his draft stock. The Patriots still took a chance on Gronk (even after a pre-draft visit where he fell asleep) that led to the largest NFL Tight End contract (6y/$54M) ever in 2012. “Frankenstein”‘s dominant play over those six years though made a case for him being UNDERPAID.

Gronk and the Patriots had a spectacular run alongside franchise players like Brady and Julian Edelman. Gronk won three Super Bowls with the Patriots and announced his initial retirement from the NFL in March of 2019. After Brady left New England and joined the Buccaneers, Gronk came out of retirement and requested a trade to reunite with his good pal in Tampa Bay. The duo won another Super Bowl in 2020 and have dominated the NFL for the past decade with records to show it.
