Friday night baseball got put on the back seat in the sports world with a NBA Playoffs Game 7 taking place, but Major League Baseball figured out how to steal some headlines once again thanks to Charlie Blackmon’s walk-off Grand Slam. The Rockies weren’t the only team to hit a game-winner either as the reigning champs and the brew crew got in on the fun as well.

Tie game, bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, 2 outs. The kind of situation every kid dreams about and Charlie Blackmon was man enough to come through with the walk-off Grand Slam. Friday featured plenty of 4-run dingers thanks to Sean Murphy and Dom Smith also hitting the jackpot.

In addition to a walk-off Grand Slam on Friday, Michael Taylor also hit a game-winner in the 12th inning as the champs try to get back on track by overcoming a 4.5 GB deficit to earn a wild card spot like they did last year all the way to the title.

Taylor’s heroics wouldn’t have been necessary if it wasn’t for Travis d’Anaud’s clutch knock to tie it up in the 9th.

The Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee Brewers rivalry has recently become one of the most highly anticipated divisional matchups in the game. Friday was no exception as Jon Lester and Brandon Woodruff exchanged blanks up until the 9th inning when Chicago’s bullpen allowed a walk-off sac fly to Ryan Braun.

Out of all the great showings on the mound, none were looking as good as the 2018 No.1 overall pick Casey Mize’s day with a no-hitter going into the 6th inning. However, he got pulled soon after allowing his first hit of the evening (at 76 pitches), and almost immediately after, the White Sox turned a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 lead thanks to Eloy Jimenez’s game-changing jack.

Veteran Whit Merrifield was trying to sneak a bunt for a base hit on the rookie 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes, and he almost got away with it if it wasn’t for the Pirates top prospect’s premium awareness, hand-eye coordination, and arm strength to nail the Royal before he reached the bag.

Mike Cameron is most remembered for hitting four home runs in a game after being the centerpiece of the Reds trade package to Seattle for Ken Griffey Jr. His son Daz has a legacy yet to be written, but it’ll start the same as his pops with their first hits both coming on September 11th in Chicago.
