Alex Cora took a 2020 last place Red Sox team to the ALCS in 2021, after not managing at all last year. The Red Sox had an outstanding offensive output in Game 2 and it took record-breaking performances from Boston to beat the Rays in Game 2 and 3. AC and the Sox defeated Tampa Bay in Game 4 with a second consecutive walk-off win. After taking down the AL’s top team with a much inferior pitching staff, Cora is proving once again that he should still be considered the best MLB manager in the game.

ALEX CORA IS BACK TO BEING CONSIDERED THE BEST MANAGER IN BASEBALL

Alex Cora resumed command of the Boston Red Sox in 2021 after serving a suspension for his involvement with the Astros sign-stealing scandal. In 2021, he promptly led his team to the ALCS with two consecutive walk-off wins. Cora is the first manager to have five wins in a row in potential series-clinching games, adding to his terrific resume that includes a 2018 World Series Championship.

Despite having one of the worst rotations in baseball, the Boston Red Sox made it to the ALCS behind a potent offense and piecing together enough pitching to stabilize innings. Nick Pivetta, Garrett Whitlock, and Tanner Houck each had notable relief outings to quiet Tampa Bay’s bats as Alex Cora continued to push all the right buttons as his Boston squad is back in the MLB’s final four despite having (BY FAR) the least talented pitching staff in the postseason.
