The slate of NBA games on Sunday night featured only four games, but three of them ended up decided by five points or less. The first game of the night went into overtime, as Charlotte rallied in the fourth quarter to force it thanks to Devonte Graham, but fell short as Phoenix was able to control OT and secure the win behind a 35-point effort from Devin Booker

The LA Lakers were able to put together a strong final six minutes, and come from behind to pull out the home win, beating Orlando, who just traded away three of their top players, by only three. LA has not been the same team, unsurprisingly, since LeBron James went down with an ankle injury.

Portland was able to scrape out a hard-earned road victory in Toronto, as the game got within one point with under three minutes to play. CJ McCollum has gotten back to himself since the injury, and led the team with 23 points. The least competitive game was in Denver, where the Nuggets took care of Atlanta. Denver had six players in double figures, and was led by JaMychal Green with 20 off the bench. Green averages only 19.3 minutes and 8.5 points per game this season, but had himself a night to remember.

Here are the best NBA highlights, facts, performers, and takeaways from March 27th, 2021:

NBA TOP PERFORMERS

CHRIS PAUL IS THE GREATEST PASSER OF THE 21ST CENTURY

Chris Paul had the first-ever game in his 1,063-game career in which he did not register at least 2 assists, which is absolutely crazy to think about. Paul has not had a single game since 2005 without multiple assists. That was 16 years ago! As this streak ends, it is time to give him the respect he deserves, and that is the recognition of being the greatest passer of this century.

Since 2005, Chris Paul’s lowest assists per game in a single season was 6.7. He was the league’s assists leader four times during his career, tied with Steve Nash for the most during that time frame. Rajon Rondo had three assist titles during Paul’s career. CP3 has averaged a double-double in six seasons, and at age 35, nearly 36, he is fifth in the league in APG.

From his early years in New Orleans, his lob city years in LA, to his new challenge in Phoenix, Paul has been consistently dishing assists at a high clip. His ability to have such impressive assist totals on teams with non-exceptional supporting casts for the large majority of his career adds to his legacy. The end of this career-long streak calls for some appreciation for the best passer of the 21st century.
