Ja Morant was selected second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies out of Murray State. As a rookie, Morant averaged 17.8 PPG and 7.3 APG while starting in 67 games, which led him to winning NBA Rookie of the Year. In the NBA bubble, Morant scored 35 in their play-in game but Memphis still fell to Portland. In the 2020-21 season, Morant led the Grizz into the playoffs while averaging 19.1 PPG and 7.4 PPG, but lost 1-4 against the top-seeded Jazz despite showing a major killer instinct when it matters.

Since being drafted, Ja Morant has helped the Grizzlies improve in each of his two seasons, while his production has also increased across the board from his rookie year as Morant jumped into the top 10 for assists and assists per game. If he continues his high level of impact on winning, he is bound to earn an NBA MVP award someday, and possibly even a Finals MVP with the right pieces around him. Ja Morant also has the potential to be the best Point Guard in the NBA with an all-around skillset perfect for today’s NBA.
