With the end of the MLB regular season approaching, a Red SoxYankees Wild Card matchup is becoming increasingly likely. Both teams currently boast the same record of 88-67 and are looking to take a commanding lead in the Wild Card race and thus secure home field advantage. Indeed, given the pivotal nature of a one-game Wild Card matchup, having home field advantage could mean everything for the teams, especially the ones in Boston and New York.

  • Giancarlo Stanton hit the 1st go-ahead Grand Slam by a Yankees player at Fenway Park since 1980
  • Stanton has now tied Don Baylor for most career Grand Slams (4) as by a DH in Yankees history
  • Giancarlo is the 1st Yankee with a 2-out-go-ahead grand slam in the 8th inning or later on the road since Dave Winfield in 1987

Odds vs. BOS: NYY -105 (Spread +1.5)

The final regular-season series between NYY and BOS has shown the world a rivalry as thrilling and intense as ever. Considering the fan bases at Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park, home-field advantage is so crucial for both teams’ hopes of extending their seasons. A potential Wild Card game would also likely see Sale vs. Cole with a trip to Tampa on the line, setting the stage for a thrilling contest and ALDS. Never has home-field advantage meant more in the WC game and this series will be huge in determining that.
