The New England Patriots are bringing back LB Jamie Collins on a one-year deal after recently being released by the Detroit Lions. The former second round pick was drafted by the Patriots in 2013 and played under Belichick until 2015. He already returned once in 2019 after a spell with the Browns and will surely be hoping to make a similar impact now in what will be his third stint with the franchise.

  • Jamie Collins has a 90.0 PFF career grade with New England; only 57.1 with Cleveland and Detroit
  • Collins made 2015 All-Pro 2nd Team when in New England and has not been selected since
  • Detroit Lions took on over $13.5M in dead cap during 2021-22 by releasing Collins

In recent years, the name Jamie Collins has largely faded into the background with other stars finding the spotlight. However, his electric defensive play and impressive performances during both of his stints with the Patriots should not be forgotten. Not only did Collins reach All-Pro Second Team honors, but he also helped New England win a Super Bowl as a major part of their defense.

Jamie Collins has always been one of the top NFL linebackers when in New England but has struggled wherever else he’s gone, whether that’s Cleveland or Detroit. Whether he can rediscover his form in his third stint with the preeminent franchise in football and the greatest Coach of all time remains to be seen. Nevertheless, one should surely not underestimate what the future might hold for the linebacker and the Patriots with him back in Massachusetts once again.
