Golden State shooting guard Jordan Poole wasted no time making an impact in the preseason opener for the Warriors, dropping 30 points on seven three-pointers. He also added 5 assists and 2 blocks and played only 22 minutes in Golden State’s 121-107 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Poole’s breakout performance serves as a great sign for the retooling Warriors, as they look to reestablish themselves as a Western Conference powerhouse.

  • Jordan Poole was a 1st Round pick in 2019 and dropped 30 PTS in the 2021 NBA Preseason opener
  • On May 14, 2021, Jordan Poole scored a career-high 38 points in a 125-122 Warriors win over the Pelicans
  • While at Michigan, Poole hit a GW-3PM to beat Houston 64-63 in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament

JORDAN POOLE GIVES THE WARRIORS A WEAPON THEY’VE NEVER HAD BEFORE

If the Warriors are going to rekindle any magic they had from their five-year dynastic run atop the league, it will have to start with replenishing the offensive production that has been missing the past two seasons. With Klay Thompson having missed the past two seasons due to ACL and Achilles injuries, Steph Curry had to carry a young, inexperienced, and injury-ravaged Golden State squad.

Now that Klay is back in the fold, as well as some young pieces, Golden State has a chance to make a leap back toward the top of the Western Conference. One of those players is shooting guard Jordan Poole, who looks poised for a breakout season. He shot 35% from three-point range and 88% from the free-throw line in 2021, bringing an element of scoring off the bench that Golden State did not really have during their reign stop the league.

On all of their Championship teams, GSW never had a backup guard who could come in and create his won shot for others like Poole can. He showed off the work he’s put in this offseason with seven 3PM during the Warriors preseason opener and 30-point performances like that will be needed while Thompson is out to keep Golden State afloat until their All-Star SG returns. The Warriors will need that scoring punch as they look to challenge the likes of the Lakers, Jazz, Suns, and Nuggets atop the mighty West.
