Aaron Judge was the hero of the day as he not only tied a franchise record with five HRs in the first eight games of the season, but then launched the go-ahead shot in the bottom of the 8th to lift the Yankees over the Red Sox. Javy Baez and Alex Bregman also had their own heroics while Trevor Bauer was strutin’ from the mound after a phenomenal pitching performance.

No player in baseball has had a better start to the 2020 season than Aaron Judge. That’s what happens when a player ties a franchise record and consistently hits go-ahead HRs (5 of his 6) to help lead his team to the best record in baseball. The MVP conversations have started and the ‘face of the league‘ discussion is back as well.

Tyler Alexander is an unheralded pitcher in Detroit, but deserved mainstream attention when he rung up NINE consecutive batters to set a new MLB record for consecutive strikeouts by a relief pitcher. No one in the Reds lineup could hit Alexander this day.

In addition to Aaron Judge’s heroics, Javy Baez and Alex Bregman were a couple of other All-Stars who came through when their team needed it most on Sunday. Baez delivered the walk-off base hit on a blazing line drive while Bregman slipped one up the middle in extras that became the game-winning RBI.
It’s not everyday baseball fans witness a kick save, and almost never do people experience two in one day, but that’s what happened this time when these two kicks kept the ball alive and led to a couple crazy outs.

Besides Aaron Judge, Nicholas Castellanos might be the hottest player in baseball as he’s batting an incredible .387/.472/.871 to start the season, adding two HRs to that during Sunday’s double-header. He absolutely decimated his former team in Chicago and is now doing the same thing to Detroit as well. Good thing PSO identified him as a dark horse MVP candidate before the season.

Castellanos would’ve had ANOTHER hit if it wasn’t for this amazing diving catch by Travis Demeritte.

Trevor Bauer has become one of the most popular players in baseball thanks to his charismatic enigma and care-less vocabulary. That’s off the field. On the field, he’s taken his stuff to a whole ‘nother level this season and is showcasing a Cy Young caliber repertoire in 2020. He even hit the McGregor strut after one of his 7 Ks during the complete game shutout (7-inning double-header).

The last time Clayton Kershaw pitched an official game, he was getting teed off of by Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto during DC’s magical postseason run. He was scheduled to start Opening Day this year to help put those demons behind him, but was a late scratch due to a back injury. Now that he’s healthy, he looked like his usual 3x Cy Young winner self with 5.2 shutout innings, only allowing three hits.

Albert Pujols was a MACHINE early in his career, and while he’s slowed down a bit, he still shows signs of the all-time legend every now and then. With this Grand Slam, the future Hall of Famer is now only two home runs away from surpassing Willie Mays for the fifth most ever.

One of the most feared HR hitters in baseball did it again on Sunday as he launched this ball to the furthest part of the spacious Oracle Park that gave Texas some much-needed insurance runs and served as the dagger for the Rangers victory.

Besides the aforementioned kick save beauties and Demeritte’s diving grab, Rafael Devers and Kyle Schwarber contributed to Sunday’s best defensive plays with their gloves and arms.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
