Mike Trout’s clutch shot in the 8th inning ended an exciting day in the MLB while simultaneously putting an end to the A’s winning streak. Trout’s been red-hot since becoming a father while Matt Chapman was on fire himself against LA before the 3x MVP’s dagger. Elsewhere, Houston came up short on a no-hitter, while Grand Slams and inside-the-park homers were instead prevalent in the MLB on August 10th.

Mike Trout has been on a tear since becoming a dad last week and earned Player of the Day honors for his 2-HR performance that included a clutch go-ahead shot in the 8th inning to end Oakland’s 9-game winning streak. Trout can thank battery-mate Shohei Ohtani for tying the game a couple innings prior.

C.J. Cron suffered a knee injury from this ball, but Daniel Norris’ incredible athleticism displayed on this play can’t go unnoticed as he helped himself out by putting in full effort to not only scoop the ball but go full extension to tag out a hustling Danny Mendick.

One of the most underrated players in the MLB is Matt Chapman, who’s already a top-2 defender in baseball (2018 Defensive Player of the Year) and continues to mash on the offensive side of the ball. Chap was in peak form against the Angels, adding two dingers and a bases-clearing triple en route to collecting 6 RBI’s that would’ve certainly won the game (and possibly Player of the Day) if it wasn’t for Trout and Ohtani’s tanks later in the game.

Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers was dominant on Monday against one of the worst offenses in the league. He didn’t allow a single hit after six innings as the notifications started to come through and more fans started to realize what was transpiring. Before the entire baseball universe was aware of the situation, Donovan Solano slashed those dreams by driving a ball down the left field line right under Alex Bregman’s glove to end the no-no and keep his team from being on the wrong side of history.

If Dustin May was a left-handed pitcher, this highlight probably wouldn’t make the cut, but balls aren’t supposed to go in this direction from a righty. May’s ridiculous 2-seamer was clocked at 99 MPH and moved the width of the strike zone to ring up Machado on a pitch that was strikingly similar to the one that K’d him last week

Isiah Kiner-Falefa came up through the minor leagues as a Catcher but made the transition to third base recently and has never looked better as he made light work of the Mariners in the 4th inning with these two diving catches. Unfortunately for IKF, a couple guys on Seattle made sure he wouldn’t also leave victorious.

Leave it to the Kyle’s on the Mariners to do the damage in the Lone Star State for Seattle’s victory. Kyle Lewis started it with his 3-run shot to erase a 1-run deficit and Kyle Seager continued it with a Grand Slam in the very next inning to blow it wide open.

Kyle Seager wasn’t the only player to drop a bomb with the bases loaded as Didi Gregorius and Eddie Rosario also hit the Papa Johns discount

Before Babe Ruth came along, the only popular way to hit HR’s was to “hit it where they ain’t” and hope for a lucky bounce or an error. Over a century later, there’s now been three batters that have successfully run around the bases the old fashioned way after less than three weeks of MLB action.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
