Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to electrify in his MVP-caliber campaign as a few August 23rd games come down to the very last play with various results while Juan Soto was looking to add another HR to his monster season before Lewis Brinson had other plans. Some MLB rookies also hit their first career dinger and the Dodgers couldn’t stop hitting dingers as they honored LA legend Kobe Bryant on what would’ve been his 42nd birthday.

On Sunday Night Baseball, two NL East rivals battled it out until the very last play. It looked like Brandon Workman was going to blow his second save in as many appearances for his new squad, but the Phillies relay was in time to gun Swanson out at the plate to avoid the sweep.

Juan Soto continues to crush the ball at the plate and was poised to increase his 2020 HR total if it wasn’t for Lewis Brinson’s elite leaping ability to bring this one back into the ball park, which earned a tipping of the cap from his pitcher.

Quickly becoming the most electric player in baseball, Fernando Tatis Jr. added to his 2020 highlight reel with a leaping grab and nice diving stop in the infield, showcasing his elite two-way abilities as the front-runner for the 2020 NL MVP award with half the season in the books.

The Oakland A’s can’t stop winning games in the final at-bat as the team rooted in Oakland added another walk-off to its list of 2020 wins as they become the first team in the AL to reach 20 victories in 2020.

August 23rd, 2020 was supposed to be Kobe Bryant’s 42nd birthday before his tragic death about seven months prior. The Los Angeles Dodgers decided to honor the LA legend with a tribute before the game and carried it into the game with a whopping seven dingers throughout the slugfest with two of them coming off the bat of red-hot Betts.

After an avalanche of three annihilated baseballs on Saturday, Abreu stayed hot by tying the MLB record with a HR in his fourth consecutive at-bat to start off his Sunday.

Alec Bohm and Dylan Carlson are a couple of the most high-profile rookies in the league and they each hit their first career home run on Sunday. Less heralded Sam Haggerty also blasted a ball out of the park for the first time that will forever hang in his trophy case going forward.

Manny Machado and Gregory Polanco stepped up when their teams needed it most with game-changing go-ahead bombs in the 8th inning to help their teams secure the wins on Sunday.

Most pitcher’s offspeed pitchers are typically in the 75-85 MPH range. Zack Greinke on the other hand is on another planet with his signature eephus pitch that hit the radar gun at under 55 miles per hour against Trent Grisham, showing how difficult it is to hit against a pitcher with such large variances between pitch speeds.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
