Trailing 4-2 entering the 9th inning, Tampa Bay turned on the comeback that was capped off by a walk-off 2-run triple from Kevin Kiermaier for his first hit of the season while the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, and others hit some clutch shots for early-season victories.

In Shun Yamaguchi’s first Major League appearance, like fellow Japanese hurler Shohei Ohtani, he recorded the loss while generating zero outs. The Rays turned up in the 9th inning against Closer Ken Giles and put the finishing pieces on an impressive comeback in extra innings against Yamaguchi.

Anthony Santander is far from a household name, but he was making plays fans would see from Mookie Betts in RF of Fenway Park in recent years. Check out the diving play and HR robbery here against Boston’s best two hitters to help the Orioles clinch their first series victory of the season.

Somehow, Trevor Bauer’s 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball wasn’t enough for the Reds to capture the win as the Tigers scored 2 of their 3 runs on one swing of the bat from C.J. Cron in the 9th inning to take the lead that they almost squandered in the bottom half of the inning.

While the Reds ended up blowing the game after C.J. Cron’s clutch HR (shown above), Trevor Bauer can sleep good at night knowing he absolutely dominated Detroit hitters by recording 13 Ks on the day that could set the tone for an outstanding season entering free agency.

Mike Trout is the best player in baseball. With his team trailing by a wide margin early, he made sure to put a dent said lead and turn a game quickly turning into a blowout back into a competitive environment.

While Mike Trout is the best player in baseball in 2020, people could be saying the same thing about Luis Robert by 2025. The top prospect is THAT good. While this hit didn’t have near the impact on the result of the game that Trout’s did above, Robert can still have a ball he’ll be looking at in his trophy case for years to come.

In 2019, the Washington Nationals had the greatest run of postseason comeback victories in the history of sports. However, the tides have turned to start out 2020 as the Bronx Bombers teed off in the 7th inning to quickly tie the game in a similar fashion that DC had done last year.

Jackie Bradley Jr. continues to show his defensive prowess in Center Field after another Gold Glove caliber play yesterday. If he ever starts hitting at the level he’s shown capable of in spurts, he’d instantly become one of the best all-around players in baseball.

Austin Riley is quickly becoming one of the best power hitters in baseball and after taking the league by storm last year, he’s starting off hot once again in 2020 as he gives the Braves another key piece to help elevate them into premier contenders for the foreseeable future.

This is something fans don’t see often. Hopefully that fence is okay 😂.

Trevor Story’s defensive gem somehow didn’t show up on Twitter, but MLB.com had it covered as the 2x All-Star dropped two bombs and made this defensive highlight for one of the top performances of the night.

These are the full game highlights of today’s close games including the Rays extra innings victory and  New York’s late-game win against the reigning champs.
