Walk-offs and game-winning HRs are exciting, but witnessing a play at the plate with the entire outcome of the game on the line is something that’s extremely rare. That’s what made this Chris Taylor cannon so special, along with Juan Soto’s season debut, and Mike Trout making a 2-HR game look as easy as possible.

Enjoy the best highlights from Wednesday’s MLB action all in one place:

Chris Taylor’s 93.3 MPH cannon of an arm came though in the clutch as the Dodgers defeated the Padres solely because he made the best throw of his career. Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts get all the Los Angeles attention in the outfield, but it was the one without an MVP award that was LA’s hero on Wednesday.

The last time MLB fans witnessed Juan Soto play an official MLB game was when he put the finishing touches on a legendary postseason debut that culminated in DC’s first championship in franchise history. His presence was missed, but he made sure to get back to doing what he does best right away.

Mike Trout turns on outside pitches as effortlessly as any player to ever step into a batter’s box. The 3x MVP just came back from having his first child, and he’s shown a whole lot of ‘Dad Strength’ with three HRs now in his first two games since becoming a father.

Joc Pederson was supposed to get traded to the crosstown Angels during the offseason before a whole lot of stuff happened and Pederson remained with LA’s premier squad. That non-move paid dividends on August 5th as Pederson powered LA offensively, driving in five of the team’s seven runs in a close battle with their biggest competitor in the division.

One of the most exciting players in all of baseball resides in San Diego, and no it’s not Manny Machado (those days have passed). It’s a young up-and-coming showman who has all the tools and all the swag to potentially become the face of the game someday. Clobbering HRs and celebrating dingers like this certainly won’t hurt the chances of that happening.

New York Mets 3B J.D. Davis doesn’t often make the highlights list as he’s much more consistent than thrilling. However, he does make some high-quality plays every now and then, like this one that makes any baseball fan, whether a Mets one or not, admire the work on the field.

Players hit homers all day, everyday, especially during a HR-inflated era in the 2020s. However, that’s usually from balls going further than the stadium is built for. It’s much more unique to see the ball stay in the yard but a player still be able to round all 4 bases. Kole Calhoun could be considered a little lucky for this one.

The 2020 AL MVP race features Aaron Judge…and everybody else so far. The face of the most popular organization in baseball continues to build a gap in the MVP race as he looks for redemption from his 2017 runner-up placement. It’ll be interesting to see how long Judge plays at this ridiculously high level.

12 strikeouts is what represented Aaron Nola’s career high of strikeouts in a single game entering today. While that mark is still standing, it did get duplicated today by Philly’s ace who bounced back from his first start in a big way with an all-around stellar performance against the hottest and most talented offense in the league.

During an otherwise spectacular performance from the 27-year-old Nola, he did cough up this somewhat hanging curveball to Luke Voit, which by the way he hit it, might as well have been placed on a silver platter.

Austin Allen has played 39 career games in the majors entering Wednesday. Yet, a player isn’t really welcome at the big league level until he unloads on a ball that allows him to trot around the bases. Allen’s first one was memorable as it helped turn Oakland’s deficit into a lead late in the game to extend their winning streak.

Up 2-0 entering the 9th, Minnesota Twins fans had to feel good about their chances, but all it takes is for one man to get on base and another Pirate to hit one deep. Eliminating any doubt, Max Kepler connected on a 2-out offering that drove in three insurance runs to put the final dagger in Minnesota’s convincing victory.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
