Mike Yastrzemski hit TWO balls into the river on Wednesday, while Lucas Giolito, Sonny Gray, and Max Scherzer were some of the aces in the league that showed exactly why. Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani joined the HR club while Toronto’s top prospect SP Nate Pearson had a debut to remember.

Mike Yastrzemski splashed a couple balls into the Bay with one of them being the walk-off dinger against San Francisco’s division rival. What a night for the grandson of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski!

And that opportunity wouldn’t have been possible without this clutch bomb in the 8th.

Justin Turner is one of the best 3B in baseball, but he might not be in LA for long. The 35-year-old is a pending free agent and this top prospect Edwin Rios is continuing to make noise as he’s poised to take over the hot corner in LA in near future. Especially if he keeps hitting game-changing dingers like this.

Toronto Blue Jays top prospect SP Nate Pearson made his big league debut against the reigning champs in a “home” game played in DC. Pearson didn’t seem fazed by the fake home game or by making his MLB debut as he showed his nasty stuff and was lights out during his introduction to the show.

Down 2 runs in the 8th inning with one man on base, Joey Gallo didn’t waste the opportunity to tie the game as he blasted a 2-run shot against Andrew Chafin to make it 4-4 a piece before his team rallied back for the lead later in the inning. The D-Backs had some highlights of their own, helping this earn the Game of the Day over some worthy contenders.

Max Scherzer, Lucas Giolito, Sonny Gray, Brandon Woodruff, and Lance Lynn dominated opposing hitters during their second starts of the season. Now that they’ve gotten acclimated to the new environment that 2020 brings, they all showed how impressive their stuff is and proved why these pitchers were named the Opening Day starter for their squads.

Nick Castellanos was not even considered a top-50 NL MVP candidate entering the season by BetMGM, but the new Red has impressed heavily at the plate with a newly-lofted swing that has paid dividends for Cincy and added 4 runs with 1 swing of the bat against his former team.

From one side of the infield to the other, Eduardo Escobar made the nice defensive play to start it and Jake Lamb made the great scoop at first. Lamb started his MLB career at the hot corner, so he knows to help out his fellow 3B on throws like this.

Aaron Judge crushed his 1st HR of the season as he joins the rest of the Bronx Bombers in the 2020 HR club.

Shohei Ohtani had one of the worst debuts of the 2020 season so far (if not the worst) on the mound, and he’s also struggled at the plate through 3 GP. However, a player with his talent was due to turn it around and that came true with two runners on base and a low breaking ball offering that the Japanese sensation golfed to the stands.

Freddie Freeman suffered what has been reported to be the most severe case of COVID-19 so far, as his 104 fever even influenced Nick Markakis to opt out (before he opted back in earlier in the day). With Markakis back in uniform, Freeman was back to his usual self with a 4-hit game including this rocket.

While Freddie Freeman had his own issues with coronavirus, Nick Senzel and Mike Moustakas had to issue appeals to get back on the field after developing COVID symptoms, but never testing positive. The appeals were finally granted on Wednesday and the two teammates got back in action in a big way.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
