Each year, it seems as though MLB pitchers are throwing harder than ever. Blue Jays Relief Pitcher Nate Pearson just broke the franchise record for the most pitches in one game registering over 100 MPH, edging out Closer Jordan Romano, who set the record in August. With Pearson and Romano, the Blue Jays have two of the hardest throwing Pitchers in baseball. The Jays look to sneak into the playoffs during these final games and it doesn’t hurt having two hurlers that unleash the heat.

  • Pearson threw the most pitches (9) 100+ MPH during 1 GP of Jays history, topping Jordan Romano (4) in 2021
  • Was the No. 1 Blue Jays prospect and No. 8 in MLB overall entering 2021
  • Only 1 GS out of 11 GP during 2021 in the MLB despite 40 GS over 46 GP during his MiLB career

NATE PEARSON IS THE FASTEST-THROWING PITCHER THE BLUE JAYS HAVE EVER HAD

Nate Pearson was one of the Blue Jays top prospects over the past few years due to his elite fastball. Blowing past names like Giles and Osuna in the franchise record books gives his fastball even more credibility. The tandem of Pearson and Romano could potentially be one of the best bullpen combinations in the 2021 MLB Postseason. No team wants to play Toronto because of their offense, but their bullpen could be just as dangerous.

The Toronto Blue Jays have a history of hard throwing closers. Ken Giles, Roberto Osuna, and Casey Janssen were all superb during their time in the Blue Jays bullpen. Now, Nate Pearson, who throws as fast as any MLB pitcher, joins Jordan Romano as a decent duet at the back end of the bullpen. If Pearson can figure out his control issues, his record-breaking fastball could make him one of Toronto’s best Pitchers one day.
