Many lop-sided contests took place in a week highlighted by teams clinching playoff berths and their respective divisions, including the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. Tons of other playoff spots shifted on Sunday as well with several teams moving up and down the seeding ranks; Minnesota is now on the outside looking in, the Giants no longer lead the NFC East, Green Bay is now the No. 1 seed in the NFC after New Orleans lost to Philly, and Pittsburgh lost their top spot in the AFC after losing its second straight game.

Key Fact: Patrick Mahomes has the most PASS YDS (2,309) in any 6-GP span in NFL history, passing Drew Brees (2,276)

Best Highlights

  • KC’s WRs are as explosive as it gets

  • MIA continues to make big plays on D

  • Gesicki somehow caught this in triple coverage

  • Jones got 2 for KC

Most Valuable Intel: A good offense is the best defense against KC

Even though its defense forced three takeaways, the Miami Dolphins still couldn’t hold off Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offensive firepower. This has been the case for several teams this year; no matter how good its defense has been at slowing down opponents, none of them have really been able to slow down KC’s top tier offense.

The only way teams will seemingly be able to beat Mahomes and co. will be to have at least a nearly equal offensive performance to them and keep their defense on the field as long as possible. Limiting how long Mahomes and his weapons are on the field is the only way to stop them, as evidenced by the Raiders Week 5 win at Arrowhead, where it took 40 points to hand the reigning champs their only loss of the 2020 season.

Final Results: KC (-350) d. @MIA (+280) 33-27 [MIA +7.5 | o52]

Key Fact: Drew Lock is the 4th player with 4+ PASS TD, 0 INT & 75 CMP% in a game in Broncos franchise history

Best Highlights:

  • Spencer made a splash on his 1st career TD

  • Hamler went OFF for DEN

  • CAR’s DL created a big fumble recovery

Most Valuable Intel: Drew Lock needed this performance to protect his job

Since Peyton Manning retired, Denver has gone through a carousel of quarterbacks under John Elway’s leadership and now are in the Drew Lock era. As a promising prospect in college, Lock was looked at by many NFL teams as a future star but he hasn’t shown much consistency since entering the league. Fortunately for the Broncos, Lock finally had a performance to be proud of this season against the Panthers and showed he is capable of succeeding at the highest level. While it was a good start, Lock will need at least a few more of these to close out the season if he wants to keep his QB1 job for 2021.

Final Results: DEN (-176) d. @CAR (+206) 32-27 [DEN -4 | o46.5]

Key Fact: Dan Bailey is the 1st player to miss 3+ FG and an XP, without a single make in over 55 years

Best Highlights:

  • Not AB, Godwin, or Evans on this deep TD

  • JPP took the ball from Kirk Cousins

  • Evans made a great grab down the sideline

Most Valuable Intel: Tampa’s chemistry issues will be the death of them if not fixed quick

After two back-to-back losses, the Buccaneers were much in need of a bye week to rest and hopefully come back refreshed against a playoff-hopeful team in Minnesota. Despite getting the win, Tampa Bay still wasn’t as fluid as they probably should’ve been. Their chemistry issues and tendency to start slow weren’t magically fixed over the bye week, but the Bucs were still able to put up a winning performance against a team they should’ve beat. They’ll always have a chance with Tom Brady, but the postseason could pose a bit of a threat to a team still struggling to be on the same page consistently.

Final Results: @TB (-305) d. MIN (+255) 26-14 [TB -7.0 | u52]

Key Fact: Derrick Henry has the most career GP (4) with 200 RUSH YDS & 2 RUSH TD of any player since 1950

Best Highlights:

  • Brown continues to prove he’s a big-time playmaker

  • King Henry is defense-repellent

  • Butler swooped in to steal a pick

Most Valuable Intel: As good as Derrick Henry is, AJ Brown is proving himself to be just as valuable

It remains without question that Derrick Henry is the No. 1 asset to the Tennessee Titans, but as A.J. Brown continues to emerge as an elite WR1, he’s beginning to make a case of his own as an extremely valuable player. Brown had another big performance against JAX and made a ridiculous one-handed TD grab few could make. Even when Henry has a rare performance where he’s unable to put up huge numbers on the ground, Tannehill has a weapon he can be confident in when he throws the ball in his direction that can carry the offense in his own right.

Final Results: TEN (-364) d. @JAX (+307) 31-10 [TEN -7.5 | u52.5]

Key FactHaason Reddick became the 1st player since 2017 with 5 SKs in a single game

Best Highlights:

  • Markus Golden made an impact early

  • Reddick was an absolute force to be reckoned with

  • Tate textbook box out and snag to set up TD

Most Valuable Intel: Haason Reddick is finally living up to his 1st Rd draft selection

The Cardinals took a chance on Haason Reddick in the 1st round of the 2017 draft and he’s been up and down during his NFL tenure. Reddick finally broke through against the Giants on Sunday with a monster performance, finishing with a whopping five sacks and three forced fumbles, making it one of the single-best defensive performances of the season so far. With Arizona fighting for its life to make the playoffs, it’ll need more big performances from their former first-round selection to make up for the lack of Chandler Jones.

Final Results: ARZ (-160) d. @NYG (+140) 26-7 [ARZ -3.0 | u47.5]

Key Fact: Cincinnati Bengals have the worst WIN% in the NFL since 2019 (4-24-1; 15.5 WIN%)

Best Highlights:

  • Defense won the game for DAL

Most Valuable Intel: Cincy’s all-in on the 2021 Draft with no more 2020 wins in sight

Joe Burrow helped Cincinnati be competitive this season, but without his signal-calling, the Bengals aren’t in the same league as 29-30 NFL teams this year anymore. With nothing left to play for in 2020, CIN is now all in on 2021. From here on out, Cincy will struggle to win games and will benefit much more by losing every game to secure some blind side protection for their franchise QB in Oregon’s Penei Sewell.

Final Results: DAL (-160) d. @CIN (+140) 30-7 [DAL -3.0 | u44]

Key Fact: David Montgomery tied Neal Anderson (1988) for the longest RUSH TD (80 YDS) in Bears SB era history

Best Highlights:

  • Montgomery blew past the HOU defense here

  • Khalil Mack was bullying HOU all game

Most Valuable Intel: David Montgomery is starting to solidify himself as a workhorse back

Cordarrelle Patterson gets involved in the run game as a speedster from the backfield or in motion sets, but the true bulk of the work comes from David Montgomery, who is proving he was worth that third-round pick in 2019. With Tarik Cohen out, Montgomery has been forced to take on a bigger role in 2020, and struggled behind an awful offensive line at first. Finishing with 100+ combined yds and 4 TOT TD in each of the last three games, Montgomery is beginning to turn it around and produce at a high level for a Bears team that’s still very much in the hunt for the final Wild Card spot and may have found its workhorse back.

Final Results: @CHI (-105) d. HOU (+115) 36-7 [CHI -1 | u46.5]

Key Fact: Justin Herbert has the 4th most PASS TD (25) by a rookie in NFL history

Best Highlights:

  • Badgley closed out regulation with a GW FG

  • WR Gage dropped an absolute dime

  • LAC made clutch GW-plays in the final minute

Most Valuable Intel: Chargers finally made winning plays during critical moments

The Chargers’ motto the last few seasons has seemingly been to stay competitive through three and a half quarters then crumble and give up the game with just minutes remaining. Sunday however, their fates seemed to finally change as they made a series of critical plays with under half a minute to play and won in the waning seconds. Anthony Lynn is still very much on the hot seat for giving up so many games the Chargers should’ve won, but if LA can come through like this in the last three weeks of the season, it might be a sign of a shift in the City of Angels.

Final Results: @LAC (-118) d. ATL (+102) 20-17 [LAC -1.0 | u49.5]

Key Fact: Jalen Hurts is the 1st player with 150+ PASS YDS, 100+ RUSH YDS, & a PASS TD in his 1st career GS since 1950

Best Highlights:

  • Hurts shined in his 1st NFL start

  • Sanders took off on the NO defense

  • Philly got a huge stop late on 4th down

  • Hill to Sanders kept the Saints in it

Most Valuable Intel: Jalen Hurts is poised to turn around the Eagles season/franchise

Several people questioned the Philadelphia Eagles’ choice to draft Jalen Hurts so early in the draft this past year, but now it seems they may have been on to something when picking him. With Wentz seemingly on the downswing for the franchise, Philly now may be in a position to move on from him and make Hurts the full-time starter if he continues to show he’s capable of winning games. He certainly made a huge statement in his first career start against one of the best defenses in the NFL, ending the Saints’ 9-game winning streak and looking to be the hero for the City of Brotherly Love.

Final Results: @PHI (+320) d. NO (-400) 24-21 [PHI +7.5 | o43]

Key Fact: T.Y. Hilton passed Lenny Moore for the 5th most career REC TD in Colts franchise history (49)

Best Highlights:

  • Defensive Play of the Year candidate

  • Taylor went untouched into the endzone

  • Willis put an exclamation point on Indy’s win

  • T.Y. finally looked like himself on Sunday

  • Moreau made a defender miss for 6

Most Valuable Intel: Despite the 2 most impressive wins of the season, Vegas is falling apart

In their first game in Las Vegas, the Raiders beat up on Drew Brees and the Saints. They carried that momentum into Arrowhead and beat the defending champs in decisive fashion as the only team to beat the reigning champs this season. The Raiders almost beat the Mahomes-led Chiefs again, but ever since giving up that game-winning touchdown in less than a minute, they’ve completely fallen apart. They got blown out by Atlanta, almost lost to the win-less Jets, and now got embarrassed by the Colts.

Those two wins would have any football fan believe this Raiders team is real and can beat the best of them, but their struggles over the last four weeks during the most important stretch of the season has them on the outside looking in when it comes to the AFC playoff picture, and they’ll need to bring that A-game for the rest of the way to get back into the postseason.

Final Results: IND (-135) d. @LV (+115) 44-27 [IND -2.5 | o52]

Key FactDavante Adams has tied the 3rd-longest streak of GP with a REC TD (8) in a single season in the Super Bowl era

Best Highlights:

  • Adams keeps making his case as the NFL’s #1 WR

  • Rodgers was absolutely surgical against DET

  • Crosby drilled the clutch dagger from 58 YDS out

Most Valuable Intel: Aaron Rodgers has taken the lead in the 2020 MVP race

Courtesy of Patrick Mahomes throwing three INT (one off a tipped pass and one from an insane grab by Xavien Howard notwithstanding), Aaron Rodgers has taken the lead in the 2020 NFL MVP race that’s sure to come down to the wire as the regular season comes to a quick close. Rodgers now has more PASS TD (39 to 38) and less INT (5 to 4) while slightly trailing in PASS YDS (3,685 to 4,208) and wins (10 to 12).

Some could argue Mahomes still has the lead, but either way, this race is far from over. Mahomes has to play the Saints, Falcons, and Chargers while Rodgers has matchups against the Panthers, Titans, & Bears to close out 2020. It’s hard to say who will get it at this point with both players having similar schedule strengths remaining, but whoever can go undefeated while minimizing turnovers will likely come out with the Most Valuable Player award this season.

Final Results: GB (-385) d. @DET (+315) 31-24 [DET +9.5 | u55.5]

Key Fact: Washington Football Team had multiple defensive TDs in a single game for the 1st time since since 1997

Best Highlights:

  • Chase Young was everywhere on the field

  • Another defensive TD for Washington

Most Valuable Intel: 49ers will be a prime destination for QBs looking to change teams

With a loaded defense, solid weapons, an effective run game, and one of the best play-callers in the business, any QB would be happy to head to the Bay and play for a Super Bowl contender when healthy. Nick Mullens is clearly not the answer, and Jimmy Garrappolo can be cut this offseason for almost no dead cap ($2.8M). Kyle Shanahan and company could be looking for a new signal-caller with names like Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Derek Carr, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, and Kyle Trask all being possibilities for the Niners faithful to get back to the promised land.

Final Results: WAS (+125) d. @SF (-145) 23-16 [WAS +3.0 | u43.5]

Key Fact: Jamal Adams has the most SKs in a season (8.5), by a DB since SK became official in 1982

Best Highlights:

  • Russ lit up the Jets for 4 TDs

  • Maye made an amazing INT

Most Valuable Intel: Jamal Adams is the best pass-rushing DB ever

After sacking Sam Darnold in the second quarter in a 40-3 route of the Jets, Jamal Adams broke Adrian Wilson’s record with 9.5 SKs on the season, the all-time single-season record for a Defensive Back. Adams is on pace to blow the current career sacks record for DBs out of the water as he could surpass Rodney Harrison’s record of 30.5 SKs next year at 26 years old as Adams already has 20.5 during his four-year career.

Adams is ruthless when rushing the passer, using deceptive pre-snap movements to cause havoc in the backfield unexpectedly. Even when the offense knows Adams is coming, they still can’t stop him sometimes due to his brute strength and relentless attack whether it’s a pass or rush. This type of talent truly isn’t something that’s been seen before and most likely won’t be seen again for quite some time.

Final Results: @SEA (-1250) d. NYJ (+775) 40-3 [SEA -16.5 | u50.5]

Key Fact: Steelers have passed Tampa Bay (1999-2003) for the longest streak of GP (70) with a sack in NFL history

Best Highlights:

  • Bills’ D spoiled Big Ben’s night

  • Diggs continued his strong season

Most Valuable Intel: The Steelers offense can’t be trusted to win a playoff game

With the most drops over the last four weeks by a WIDE margin, Diontae Johnson leads the entire league as the only player in double-digits (12). Along with Johnson’s struggles have been the predictability of Pittsburgh’s offense as defenses begin to figure them out and has significantly stalled the run game.

Big Ben’s poor play as of late has officially eliminated him from the MVP race and possibly the Comeback Player of the Year race with the way Alex Smith has turned DC’s season around and is leading them closer and closer to an NFC East title. As the playoffs get closer and closer, the Steel City needs to figure out how to start producing on offense again and fast, because without any improvement, PIT will be a one-and-done team in January.

Final Results: @BUF (-122) d. PIT (+102) 26-15 [BUF -1.5 | u49]

Key Fact: New England will snap a streak of 17 consecutive seasons with 10+ wins, the longest streak in NFL history

Best Highlights:

  • Rams’ D suffocated NE’s offense

  • Akers had himself a night

  • Bryant played the ball perfectly on this play

Most Valuable IntelThe Patriots will be looking for a new starting QB this offseason

The Cam Newton experiment has had mixed results thus far but will most likely not be given a second chance for a franchise that has been the epitome of NFL success over the last two decades. With just a measly five touchdown passes through 14 weeks and on the brink of missing the playoffs, it’s become obvious that Newton is not a fit in NE and his departure this offseason is evident as his one-year deal is set to expire.

Look for Belichick and the Pats to seek Newton’s successor in the 2021 NFL Draft (where Kyle Trask or Mac Jones could be available outside the top-10) or scour the free agency/trade market with guys like Aaron Rodgers, Jimmy Garoppolo, Dak Prescott, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan, and Sam Darnold all potential targets.

Final Results: @LAR (-240) d. NE (+20024-3 [LAR -5.0 | u43.5]

Key FactRavens vs. Browns MNF game featured the most RUSH TD (9) in a NFL game during the Super Bowl era

Best Highlights:

  • Justin Tucker is the GOAT Kicker

  • Lamar was wild on Monday Night

  • The 2019 MVP was slinging it, too

  • Mayfield was making plays as well

  • Bowser’s key INT set up another BAL TD

  • Gus was making everyone miss

Most Valuable Intel: This was the game of the year

Few people would argue after tonight that this matchup was one of, if not the game of the year by far. Both teams just kept the haymakers coming all night long, especially in the fourth quarter when each side was fighting for its life to stay alive in the shootout. History was also made on Monday night when Baker Mayfield’s RUSH TD late in the fourth quarter broke a Super Bowl Era NFL record with nine total RUSH TDs in a single game. Aside from making history, these two teams gave NFL fans alike quite the spectacle to behold in a game that will be remembered for many years to come, especially considering the divisional rivalry and what all was at stake.

Final Results: BAL (-172) d. @CLE (+15247-42 [BAL -3.0 | o45.5]
