NFL Week 15 featured a special late-season Saturday doubleheader with the Bills and Broncos squaring off in the Mile High city while the Panthers traveled to the Frozen Tundra to take on the Packers. Bills QB Josh Allen got things started with another big performance as Denver had no answers to Buffalo’s onslaught and were destroyed 48-19. Then on Saturday night, Green Bay got off to a hot start but cooled down mightily after halftime as Carolina’s defense turned it up a notch and bullied the Green and Gold’s offensive line. The Cheeseheads prevailed however, 24-16, to keep a firm hold on the NFC’s top seed.

FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS

1. Aaron Jones has proven he’s on deck for a big contract extension

With the amount of weapons the Green Bay Packers have, they can win in so many different ways. Even though Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams weren’t tearing it up like they usually do, Aaron Jones provided the offense with a consistent running game and put on a contract extension-worthy performance.

Despite the recent examples of teams paying big bucks for RBs and not getting the same productivity out of them, that didn’t stop the Titans from doing the same thing yet they’re still getting monster performances from Derrick Henry. Jones’ unique skill set is paramount to GB’s potential success and gives it a significantly improved chance of succeeding week in and week out. As a free agent after the season, the Packers must hand him a Henry-esque extension to keep him in the Green and Gold or their entire offense could falter.

2. After years of mediocrity, the Bills are finally building a perennial contender

In a new era of AFC East football, it appears the Buffalo Bills are now poised to dominate the division for the foreseeable future after years of playing in Bill Belichick and Tom Brady’s shadows. The Bills ended their 25-year drought of winning the AFC East on Saturday and are in a prime position to continue down that path of winning division titles for the next 10-15 years. Between Josh Allen’s surge to the top tier of QBs in the league, an arsenal of weapons on offense, and a stout defense that can give any offense nightmares, Bills Mafia is ready to finally break away from an era of mediocrity.

3. Green Bay is poised to host their 1st NFC Championship in the Aaron Rodgers era

Even with a somewhat sloppy win against Carolina, Green Bay is now in a prime position to lock up the NFC’s top seed and receive the conference’s only playoff bye. Thanks to a Week 3 win over New Orleans, GB now only has to win its last two games against Tennessee and Chicago to clinch home-field advantage. Taking down the Titans could prove to be a headache with Derrick Henry flattening any defense that gets in his way as well as Ryan Tannehill and A.J. Brown’s growing chemistry.

Titletown could also get some extra help on Sunday if the Chiefs can come into the Superdome and hand the Saints another loss, furthering the Packers’ lead in the No. 1 seed race to a full game on top of a head-to-head advantage. Aaron Rodgers has played in four NFC Conference games (1-3), but all four of them have been on the road. This could finally be the year where he’s able to celebrate a TD with a Discount Double-Check and Lambeau Leap simultaneously with the Super Bowl on the line.

COLORS KEY | FULL BILLS FUTURE OUTLOOK

The Buffalo Bills clinched the AFC East for the first time since 1995, ending one of the longest active division-winning droughts while continuing to run it up on anyone they play. Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs’ chemistry is key to the offense’s success and will play a major part heading into the postseason as BUF looks to get a couple more wins against the Patriots and Dolphins. No seeding is certain at this point in the AFC, so there’s a possibility that the Bills could actually end up with a top-2 seed as they’re only one game back from Pittsburgh and own the tiebreaker after last week’s victory.

The Denver Broncos front office is likely to shift gears in efforts to get as high of a draft pick as they can get now at this point, so don’t expect much explosiveness out of them for the remainder of their schedule. However, since their last two opponents are against two division rivals in LA (Chargers) and LV (Raiders), the Broncos could look to end the season on a high note with some pride.

 FULL PACKERS FUTURE OUTLOOK

Green Bay is in the driver’s seat for a No. 1 seed in the NFC at the moment after a victory against Carolina. Thanks to a win over New Orleans in Week 3, the Packers hold the head-to-head advantage and can clinch home-field advantage with just two more wins. Despite having to deal with Derrick Henry and the rest of a hungry Titans team next week, their biggest advantage is the game being held at Lambeau Field so the elements will certainly be in their favor. Adams and Rodgers will certainly need bigger performances than Saturday night’s and keeping Derrick Henry off the field as much as possible will be priority #1.

Despite a valiant first-year effort out of rookie HC Matt Rhule, the Panthers are still a few steps short of being a serious contender and Christian McCaffrey’s absence most of this season has played a major role in their offense’s deficient play. Mike Davis certainly stepped up and did a decent job in place of McCaffrey, but he just doesn’t have as wide of a skillset as him and that has handicapped CAR quite a bit. Hopefully for Carolina, next year will be different and its RB1 will be back to full health as the key to this offense, because he’s not going anywhere after his big contract signing.
