7x National League MVP Barry Bonds accomplished just about everything a player could hope for as a professional athlete. He holds numerous records to his name, including home runs in a single season (73), career home runs (762), and the highest on-base percentage in a single season (.609). The numbers do not lie.
Bonds was among the game’s greatest hitters of all time, and a terror to pitchers across the league. This fact no doubt contributed to a specific group of records he held concerning walks. These include most walks taken in a single season (232), intentional walks in a single season (120), as well as consecutive games with both walks (18) and with intentional walks (6). All these records culminated into the achievement of having the most walks in MLB history, a feat he achieved on this very day in 2004 and won’t be surpassed anytime soon.
