Fernando Tatis Jr. was signed by the San Diego Padres in 2015 and made his major league debut in 2019. The son of a former MB player, Tatis Jr. quickly became a key player on his team and made his All-Star debut in just his second season. A big part of his arsenal is his base running ability, which was demonstrated on this day in history by an incredible acrobatic move that got him out of a pickle against the Atlanta Braves.

FERNANDO TATIS JR.’S EARNS PADRES RECORDS AND PULLS OFF MIRACLE STUNT

At the age of 20, Tatis Jr. became the youngest player in San Diego Padres history to record four-plus hits in a single game. He accomplished this in a 4-1 loss against the Atlanta Braves. During the game, Tatis also saved himself after getting caught between first and second base after leading too far off first. He managed to slide around Mike Soroka with an acrobatic contortion to return safely back to first base. Tatis Jr. became known during the season for his amazing ability to make it to the plate.
