Friday’s NBA action tipped off with Aaron Gordan’s dazzling dunk on the Nets, followed by a competitive Blazers-Grizzlies matchup which saw McCollum light up the stat sheet. Giannis performed his freak-like antics, and the first FULL night of NBA basketball in almost five months was capped off with a Texas showdown between two of the league’s most offensively inclined teams.

James Harden put himself one game closer to being one of three players to average 34 points or more per game in consecutive seasons. The Beard would be joining the company of Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. This hiatus hasn’t affected Harden’s game whatsoever as he’s still driving to the cup with ease and knocking down step-backs like he does it for a living.

Up six with a minute and some change left to play, the Mavs’ lead evaporated. The game was tied on a clutch tip-in by Covington with a few ticks left on the clock. The Rockets then completed the comeback and escaped with the victory in overtime when RoCo finally hit his 1st 3PM of the night (9 3PA) at the perfect time.

It’s been 144 days since Giannis Antetokounmpo has played basketball, but that in no way impeded him as this MVP candidate showed no signs of rust. A quick glance at his numbers in the box score says it all, notching 36 points on 70% from the field, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists. The MVP is BACK!

The Greek Freak took flight on a crowded runway, flying past three Celtics defenders for the monster jam.

Every game is pivotal for the eighth-seeded Grizzlies and ninth-seeded Trail Blazers in deciding who will make the playoffs. Both squads led by 11 or more at one point and this contest had to be decided in an extra five minutes of basketball. If fans have any luck, these teams will be pinned against each other in an entertaining play-in style tournament.

Jusuf Nurkic was reintegrated into Portland’s starting lineup after rehabbing his fractured leg injury which sidelined him for the entire season to this point. He showed no lack of explosiveness as he threw down a nasty one-handed jam while being fouled, emphatically reintroducing himself to the NBA.

CJ McCollum kept the statistician busy during the first half of Friday’s contest against the Grizzlies as he posted 19 points in 19 minutes. This outburst was delivered on a scorching hot 8-11 FG rate.

Probable Rookie of the Year Ja Morant turned Friday’s basketball game into a track meet with his transition-oriented mindset. But his acrobatic layups and powerful alley-oops were not enough to energize his team to victory.

Aaron Gordan reminded everybody why he’s one of the league’s premier dunkers. Using his ball-handling and pure athleticism, Gordan blew past Garrett Temple on the base line en route to a two-handed reverse slam.

De’Aaron Fox is half the equation of a very talented young backcourt, but last night he scored enough for both parties. A career-high performance was the result of a four-month rest for the lighting quick PG sporting a new haircut.

After a brief stint with the Mavericks last season, Dallas signed Trey Burke again to add more firepower to the bench. But not even the Mavs expected him to produce at the caliber he did on their reopening night. Reunited with his former Michigan Wolverine teammate Tim Hardaway Jr., Burke shined bright under the lights of Orlando, ending with 32 points (8-10 3pt).

The Boy Wonder, Luka Doncic, was clicking on all cylinders as the Mavericks’ leader. At only 21 years old he’s showing signs of having the potential to be one of the most well-rounded players of all-time.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
