The first handful of games in August saw marksman three-point shooting from Paul George and a red-hot Miami Heat squad. This was followed by the Pacers pushing past the Sixers thanks to Warren’s career night, and Lowry doing it all against the Lake Show.

T.J. Warren was locked in from tip-off, racking up 19 quick points in the first quarter and 29 at halftime. His diverse shot selection kept the 76ers defense honest all night long as he finished with a career-high 53 points (20-29 FG). This is the third-most points scored by a Pacer ever and only the fourth time a player put up 50+ points despite going to the free throw line less than five times.

After suffering a close loss to their L.A. rival, the Clippers set out on a mission to redeem themselves this time around. They wasted no time as they dialed up a team record 16 first-half threes and 25 in total, also a team record. They knocked in over half their attempts with a ludicrous 53.2% three-point FG rate to boot.

The Clippers’ vicious assault from behind the arc was in due part to the deadeye shooting of Paul George. He drilled three-straight threes to start the game and made 8-11 in total as if he were using real-life 2K sliders to pour in the buckets.

The Philly trio of Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Tobias Harris each had stellar performances adding 90 combined points to their team’s total. The former Kansas Jayhawk, Embiid was especially lethal notching 41 points paired with 21 boards despite the loss to Indiana.

On a career-high rebounding night, the Philadelphia native Kyle Lowry elevated his Raptors over the Lakers. He did so while logging 33 points using a combination of three-point daggers and aggressive rim runs as he showcased his veteran savviness and vocal leadership throughout the night.

The dynamic pairing of Adebayo and Butler picked up right where they left off pre-NBA shutdown. The two All-Stars posted fantastic overall numbers, serving up dishes on a silver platter in addition to 22 points apiece.

The stretch big, Kelly Olynyk fully stepped into a sixth man role in the final period for the Miami Heat. His shooting barrage from deep added fuel to the fire and catapulted the Heat to a decisive 20-point win over the injury-ridden Nuggets.

OKC’s balanced scoring distribution had no hiccups from the hiatus with six players in double figures. The charge was led by floor general Chris Paul and young gun Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as both maneuvered around the court with their slick crossovers and superb vision against one of the NBA’s best defenses.

The Los Angeles Lakers turned their game into a rejection fiesta during last night’s proceedings. This swat-happy group averages 6.8 blocks per game (1st in the NBA), and they accumulated 12 blocked shots against the Raptors on Saturday!

Not only did this game resemble an All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge, but the participants were all 6’11 or taller. The Nuggets have fully embraced a tall ball play style, going against the grain of the league’s small ball revolution.

Full game highlights of today’s close games will be posted here once they conclude.
