1. Brady is no longer a lock to pull off clutch comeback wins or game-winning drives
Tonight’s game was added proof that Tom Brady is not the god-like clutch performer he was during his days in New England. He was seeing ghosts on both of his interceptions, which weren’t even close to his intended receivers, with one costing TB the game on their final drive. If this were vintage Brady, that 2:40 left on the clock down 3 would’ve been a lock to end in a Brady-led scoring drive with the game on the line. That isn’t the case anymore for Tompa Bay.
With such a bevy of weapons surrounding him, it’s hard to believe Brady has struggled as much as he has, although it might make sense based on previous comments from his head coach. Even though this could be a contributing factor to why Brady hasn’t looked the same, it’s fair to say a lot of his struggles this year have been the result of a number of factors such as age (43) and being on a new team in a new system for the first time in 20 years. He can still win more games than most NFL QBs, but they don’t all come as easy as they once did for him.
2. Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods are the most underrated WR duo in the NFL
When talking about the NFL’s best WR tandems, the Los Angeles Rams’ dynamic duo aren’t talked about much since they don’t have what most would consider an “elite” receiver. Make no mistake about it though, there is no shortage of talent at that position in Hollywood – Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods have proven themselves amongst their peers and certainly have earned their keep.
Averaging over 100 REC YPG combined and each cracking 100 tonight against a stout Bucs defense, these offensive weapons have high potential and can burn a defense on any given play. They’re also not bad route runners either and form a fierce tandem when Sean McVay is dialing up plays to get them involved early and often as he did against the Bucs.
3. The NFC West crown is going to come down to the wire for the 2nd consecutive year
The race for the NFC West title continues to get crazier with every passing week. With this win, Los Angeles moved into first place following a few up-and-down weeks and could maintain that lead through season’s end. It will take a fighting effort though, as four of their remaining six opponents are division rivals, two of which are against Arizona.
A win over the Seahawks already under their belt provides a nice advantage, and games against the disappointing Patriots and abysmal Jets give LA even more of a legitimate chance to win the division crown. Things are going to get very interesting out west down the stretch and will surely be nothing short of exciting as the Seahawks, Rams, and Cardinals all gear up for what could be a division race for the ages.
