Shane Lechler was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL draft and was named a 1st Team All-Pro his rookie season. The following season, Lechler was selected to his first Pro Bowl game. Recording 4,503 YDS on his punts in 2003, Lechler led the league and was named to his second 1st Team All-Pro.
From 2007-2011, Lechler made five straight Pro Bowls, three 1st Team All-Pro selections, led the NFL in Punt YDS 2x, and led the league in YDS/Punt twice. In 2013 at the age of 37, Lechler signed with the Houston Texans, where he would play five years. In his final season, at 41 years old, Lechler recorded a league best 4,507 Punt YDS, proving his longevity and further cementing his status as an all-time NFL Punter.

Shane Lechler played 18 NFL seasons and recorded a plethora of accolades to construct a Hall of Fame resume. While having the most 1st Team All-Pro selections by any Punter ever, he is also second in career Punt YDS and Punts. Lechler came into the league and became an instant talent, but his longevity is what cements his legacy as one of the greatest Punters ever.
Leading the NFL in YDS/Punt five times, longest Punt twice, and total YDS four times, including his league-leading final season shows that Shane Lechler is easily on the list of the greatest Punters to ever play. Combine that with the fact that he not only was named to the All-Decade Team for the 2000s, but also the 2010s, Lechler is certified as the greatest Punter of the 21st century.
