On July 14, 2020, DE Myles Garrett signed a monster contract extension with the Cleveland Browns exactly two years ago, making it a great time to look at all of the remarkable records and historic achievements the dominant defender already has to his name.

Myles Garrett is known as many things: The Flash, The Sack Reaper, and one of the best Defensive Ends in all of football. Taken first overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, expectations for the young star were high following his stellar college career in the SEC. Not only did he meet those expectations, he exceeded them by becoming one of the most dominant pass rushers in the entire league. His early success was a key factor in propelling the Browns out of purgatory in the late 2010s/early 2020s.

Born and raised in Texas, Garrett kept his talents local by attending Texas A&M, where he crushed the competition for three years prior to the draft where he was the clear-cut No.1 overall prospect. During his show-stopping performance at the pre-draft Combine, #95 showed everyone a preview of the skills he would be bringing to the league. He was able to easily transition to the pros with his seemingly superhuman athleticism and dedicated work ethic. However, Garrett’s career and image took a big hit in week 11 of the 2019 season.

In a 2019 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Garrett struck opposing QB Mason Rudolph in the head with his own helmet during an altercation. Garrett was handed a lengthy suspension and hefty fines before being reinstated prior to the 2020 season and picking up on the field where he left off. The Browns immediately worked to re-sign their star defender, which they accomplished on July 15, 2020 when they gave him the largest contract extension ever for a defensive player at the time, worth $125 million over five years ($100 million guaranteed).
