The ‘Best of the Day’ is a daily PSO original series showcasing the most significant stories, highlights, and facts going on in the land of the NFL, NBA, & MLB every day. Get a recap on EVERYTHING that happened on 4/3 here

The biggest events in sports on Saturday came from the Men’s March Madness Tournament, as Gonzaga PG Jalen Suggs hit one of the greatest buzzer-beaters ever to down UCLA in OT in the Final Four that clinched a spot in the National Championship. Suggs was already considered one of the top NBA prospects, but now his stock could be even higher, especially if he finishes this season off as an undefeated national champion on Monday.

Karl-Anthony Towns is done with being labeled “soft” after his dominant performance vs. the league’s best center in Joel Embiid that including a powerful poster, Jrue Holiday put the Bucks on his back without Giannis to get Milwaukee the win over the Kings, and this years’ Jazz squad are hitting from deep like no one ever has before.

Here is the best of the day from April 3, 2021:

Jalen Suggs hit the biggest shot any top NBA Draft prospect has ever made

Top NBA draft prospect Jalen Suggs hit one of the most iconic buzzer-beaters of all-time Saturday night to propel his team to the National Championship game. The shot helped No. 1 overall seed Gonzaga earn an incredible 93-90 OT victory over No. 11 seed UCLA in the Men’s college basketball Final Four. At 31-0 with a matchup set in the final vs. No. 1 seed Baylor on Monday, Gonzaga is now just one win away from completing the first undefeated campaign since the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers, with Suggs leading the way.

A legit five-star talent coming out of high school, Suggs has lived up to the hype and then some as the highest-rated recruit in Zags history this season. He is a natural PG with good size (6’4″, 198 lbs), which allows him to play effective defense and grab rebounds. Not to mention he displays excellent basketball IQ along with a smooth jumper, all of which add up to him being a true leader on the court. He is a near lock to be a top-five pick, with some scouts even considering him No. 1 overall, especially after proving he can deliver in the biggest of moments.

KAT IS DONE WITH BEING LABELED AS “SOFT”

Karl-Anthony Towns put together an all-around dominant performance in Saturday night’s clash with Philadelphia. He did this against the league’s best Center, Joel Embiid, who returned from injury after missing ten games due to a bone bruise in his left knee. KAT shot better from the field and three-point line, as well as had more points, rebounds, and assists than Embiid did as the clear top performer in the game. On top of all this, he threw down a monster jam right on Embiid’s head.

In recent matchups between the two, there have been some heated exchanges, including ejections. They’ve even beefed on social media. Now, these interactions have only been occurring in recent years, and it is probable that the fire was lit by an ex-teammate of them both, Jimmy Butler.

Jimmy Butler notoriously left Minnesota after calling KAT and the rest of the team “soft” and ended up in Philly with Embiid. Butler and Embiid quickly became good buddies, and since this friendship, Embiid and KAT’s beef has taken off from there as Butler likely got Embiid on the “KAT is soft” train. KAT showed on Saturday that he’s clearly tired of this label, as represented by his performance over the league’s best Center on Saturday night, as well as his emphatic slam that nobody “soft” could accomplish.

KAT’s mentality has changed massively since teaming up with Butler, and he’s on a vengeance tour to show off his new mindset. It’s only a matter of time before the Wolves turn into a contender once D-Lo comes back healthy and Towns can prove he’s about it when it matters in the postseason.
