There were only five NBA games played Saturday as two matchups were postponed due to COVID-19. However, there were multiple exciting finishes, as the Heat topped the Lakers in an NBA Finals rematch and the Hornets defeated the Warriors on a buzzer beater from Terry Rozier while Russell Westbrook racked up another triple-double to lead Washington to their first four-game win streak in over three years.

Here is the best of the day from February 20, 2021:

2020 NBA Finals rematch came down to the wire

The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat squared off in a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals. In a low-scoring affair, it was the Heat who came out on top, securing a tough 96-94 road win over the defending champs. Miami barely hung on, though. Clinging to a two-point lead with just seconds remaining, the Heat turned the ball over on a LeBron James steal. Miami quickly double-teamed James, who made the right decision by passing to an open Alex Caruso for the game-tying shot. However, Caruso’s shot missed off the front of the rim, and Miami was able to escape with the win.

James had a rough shooting night, finishing the game with 19 points on 7-of-21 shooting and 1-of-8 from 3. However, he was particularly ineffective in the second half, hitting just 2-of-9 of his shots and missing all four 3pt attempts. James’s recent 3pt struggles this month continued, as he is now just 20-for-75 (26.7%) from beyond the arc in February. The Lakers will need him to regain his shooting form to keep up with the Jazz and Clippers atop the West with Anthony Davis out for at least the next few weeks.
