Here is the best of the day from January 22, 2021:

MLB Hall of Famer, icon, and long-time HR King Hank Aaron passed away

Baseball legend and long time Braves player Hank Aaron passed away on Friday at the age of 86. Aaron played 23 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1954-1976. During his career, he played 12 seasons for the Milwaukee Braves before the team was sold and moved to Atlanta in 1966. He spent nine more seasons in Atlanta before finishing his career back in Milwaukee with the Brewers. During his 23-year Hall of Fame career, Aaron was a 21x All-Star, 3x Gold Glove winner, 2x Batting Title champion, MVP, and World Series champion with the Milwaukee Braves in 1957.

On April 8, 1974, Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s home run record of 714. He would go on to finish with 755 career home runs. That mark wasn’t surpassed until the steroid era in 2007 when Barry Bonds topped it, finishing his career with 762 homers. However, most baseball purists view Aaron as the legitimate HR record holder. He is also the all-time leader in career RBI (2,297) and Total Bases (6,856). Hank Aaron is widely regarded as a baseball titan and one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Deandre Ayton is showing flashes of the MVP-caliber Center he’s capable of being

COLORS KEY | FULL SUNS FUTURE OUTLOOK

After Phoenix selected Deandre Ayton No.1 overall in 2018, it has been viewed as nothing but a disappointment considering the sky-rocket rise to the top No. 3 pick Luka Doncic has experienced in his first few seasons as an NBA player. While Luka Magic is special in his own right, Ayton deserves some respect too. He’s not on the same MVP-level as Luka, but he’s recently shown flashes of developing into that.

The Suns Center is still just 22 years old, has all the natural tools, and athleticism that highlights his potential as a future Most Valuable Player candidate. Playing with Chris Paul is the perfect person to help unlock his game mentally as CP3 is one of the best vets in the game and has played alongside tremendous bigs over his illustrious career like Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Clint Capela, Steven Adams, and a prime David West among others. Ayton is also put in great positions around the basket now due to Paul’s passing prowess.

If Ayton can fully develop his outside shot that he showcased at the collegiate level, there’s nothing stopping him from evolving into that Joel Embiid/Karl-Anthony Towns type big man that has an unlimited offensive game, can rebound among the best in the league, and can anchor the defense at the rim. He’s not there yet by any means, but back-to-back games of setting his season-high with 26 and 27 points, respectively, has Suns fans optimistic that they’re witnessing the growth of their No.1 pick right in front of their eyes.
