Jacob deGrom continues to shatter the MLB record books with a historic 10-game pitching performance that has never been seen before. Despite the Nuggets being down 0-3 and likely to be swept, they still have the kind of roster, coaching staff, youth, and continuity that makes them a posing contender for years to come. Mike Tauchman robbed another crucial HR while June 11th marks the 65th birthday of legendary QB Joe Montana as well as the 24th anniversary of MJ‘s iconic “Flu Game.”

Here is the best of the day from June 11, 2021:

Jacob deGrom is the most dominant athlete in all of sports right now

Through 10 games, New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom has the lowest ERA for the first 10 games started in a season at 0.56. He has become the first pitcher to record more RBI (5) than ER (4) in any 10-game span since RBI became an official stat in 1920. Jacob deGrom reached 100 Ks on the season in just 61.2 IP, the fastest since 1901. He has the lowest WHIP (0.53), and opponent AVG (.121) over any 10-game span, while he has been batting .400! In a year where offense is at an all-time low, no pitcher has been anywhere close to as dominant as Jacob deGrom has been.

DESPITE A LIKELY SWEEP, DENVER WILL BE TITLE CONTENDERS FOR YEARS TO COME

It felt like a must-win Game 3 for Denver back on their home court, but they were not able to take care of business, and now find themselves down 3-0 with a sweep seeming likely. Nikola Jokic received his MVP trophy and went on to play like one, posting a historic 32-20-10 triple-double. However, the dynamic Phoenix backcourt was too much for the Nuggets to handle as they combined for 55 points and were aggressive scorers all night. The Suns are now one game away from the conference finals.

After not being able to defend their home court in Game 3, it now looks like the Nuggets season will be coming to a close soon. Despite this, they still have a very bright future ahead of them. They will have the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, who’s only 26 years old, alongside playmaking guard Jamal Murray, and rising star Michael Porter Jr., who are both under 25 years old.

Even without Murray, Denver was able to top Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers in the first round, marking the third year in a row they’ve won a playoff series as Mike Malone has proven to be one of the best coaches in the league. The Nuggets are in great hands moving forward and will be a championship contender for years to come.
