1985: Utah Jazz C Mark Eaton set an NBA Playoff record by blocking 10 shots in a loss to the Houston Rockets. Hakeem Olajuwon in 1990 and Andrew Bynum in 2012 have tied the record but nobody has beaten it. Blocks became official in 1973-74

1984: Stunning the defending champions in the 1st round, the New Jersey Nets clinched a series win over the Philadelphia 76ers in 5 games

1983: In what’s now considered the greatest QB draft class of all-time (6 1st-rounders), Hall of Famers John Elway was drafted 1st overall by the Colts (traded to the Broncos shortly after), Jim Kelly went to Buffalo (14th), and Dan Marino was selected by Miami (27th)

1966: After 16 seasons and 9 NBA Championships, Boston Celtics HC Red Auerbach officially announced his retirement
