3 BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FROM PITTSBURGH STEELERS’ MNF WIN OVER CHICAGO BEARS
COLORS KEY | FULL STEELERS OUTLOOK
1. JUSTIN FIELDS SHOWED MAJOR SIGNS OF GROWTH IN THE 2ND HALF
Justin Fields had a terrific game in Week 9 during his best offensive showing of the year. Even his interception was unlucky, tipped into the hands of batted-ball aficionado Cam Heyward. In the 1st half, Fields threw for 71 yards and was 11/13, along with five rushes for 48 yards. J-Fields turned it on in the 2nd half though, throwing for 220 yards in the final 30 minutes of game time. If Fields gets the right HC/play caller, he’ll have a chance to live up to his MVP potential.
2. 2021 DPOY LOOKS LIKE A 2-MAN RACE BETWEEN TJ WATT & MYLES GARRETT
TJ Watt is a premier NFL Sack artist and proves it week in and out. Against the Bears, Watt had three sacks and terrorized opposing Offensive Linemen. The Defensive Player of the Year race will most likely come down to Browns tombstone hunter Myles Garrett, who has 12 Sacks that leads the NFL, and TJ Watt who’s right behind him with 11.5. Either option is a good one and should be a contested race down the stretch.
3. ROOKIE TE PAT FRIERMUTH IS BECOMING A GO-TO WEAPON FOR PITTSBURGH
The Steelers recently had one of the greatest Tight Ends in franchise history in Heath Miller and now have an emerging big body threat in Tight End Pat Friermuth. He caught two Touchdowns in Week 9 and the Bears had no answer for him. While defenses are busy dealing with deep threats Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson, “Muth” is emerging as one of the Steelers’ best offensive weapons, especially in the red zone where it matters most.
