The Chicago Bears have been cursed with the inability to find an elite QB to carry this historic franchise back to stardom. However, everything changed for the “Windy City” when Justin Fields continued to slide in the 2020 NFL Draft. When the Giants were on the clock with the 11th pick, Chicago knew they had to strike a deal to land the prolific OSU phenom. Now that Fields has been named the Bears starter for Week 3 against Cleveland, his potential to become an MVP candidate could happen sooner than later.

  • Andy Dalton will miss Week 3 (knee) while Justin Fields has been named the starting QB
  • Fields won the BIG10 Offensive player of the Year award 2x (2019, 2020)
  • The Georgia native is only the 3rd Ohio State Quarterback to be selected in the 1st Round

JUSTIN FIELDS CAN BE A NFL MVP CANDIDATE ONE DAY AND THE BEST BEARS QB EVER

COLORS KEY | FULL BEARS OUTLOOK

Justin Fields is not like any other recent Ohio State Quarterback (Cardale Jones, Dwayne Haskins, etc.) and has an abundance of reasons why he could become a future MVP candidate. Fields is one of those rare QB’s in the NFL that actually looks like he could be successful playing another position such as Tight End or even Safety, and that’s a testament to his combination of size, strength, and speed. Similar to Lamar Jackson, who won a MVP in large part due to his running ability, Fields could follow in those footsteps.

The Bears QB will rely heavily on his freakish athleticism which helps expand his game as a Dual Threat QB and only enhances his chances of bringing home that MVP award one day. Fields was tasked with making a lot of reads while he was at OSU and that’s why he will deeply benefit from Matt Nagy’s motion offense. Nagy’s “smoke in mirrors” scheme uses a lot of different methods to make defenders get lost in their reads and involves a lot of quick and more simple reads for the QB.

Fields is also well prepared to play in windy cities and “Frozen Tundras” thanks to his mobility. Getting the opportunity to start in Week 3 and other games this season will allow the young signal caller to grow significantly from the mistakes he’s destined to make as a rookie. While Fields was the fourth QB taken in the 2021 Draft, it’s very possible Fields will one day be seen as a top-4 QB in the entire NFL as he emerges in future MVP conversations.
