As Washington fans celebrate Santana Moss on his 43rd birthday, check out some of the best records to know about the legendary wide receiver.

Taken with the 16th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft, The University of Miami product always had high expectations. A campus legend at the U, he led all receivers in receiving yards and punt return yards. It took Moss some time to get adjusted to the NFL, but once he did, he took off. Having his first 1,000-yard season in 2003 at just 24 years old, this led to him being traded to Washington and signing a huge six-year, $31 million dollar deal in 2005.

Growing up in Miami, Florida and playing all four years of college ball in his hometown, Moss grew up in a football family. His younger brother Sinorice Moss also played in the NFL and he’s related to studs CB Patrick Peterson and RB Zack Moss. Fans of the New York Jets and Washington Commanders have plenty of affection for the 5’10” speedy Wide Receiver. He embraced the city with class and dignity no matter what uniform he’s put on.

Moss is regarded as one of the best receivers to ever play for Washington. Known for his big-play capability, very few that ever played for the nation’s capital could ball out like Moss. While the former first-round pick wasn’t known for his hands, he used his speed to burn right past defenders and get open. That next-level gear is what helped him have a long and record-breaking career in the NFL. After a 14-year journey, the Miami native traded in his cleats to retire from football and cement his legacy as one of the best Washington wideouts ever.
