Add Alec Mills to the list of legendary names that have completed a no-hitter in MLB history. The Cubs hurler was originally a walk-on at UT Martin before being drafted in the 22nd round back in 2012. Exceeding his MLB rookie limits in 2019, Mills has made it all the way to where he is now as a valuable member of Chicago’s pitching staff, and one of the dozens of active pitchers with a no-hitter in their career.

‘The Machine’ was a monster during the 2000s, averaging over 40 HRs & 120 RBIs, while batting .331/.426/.624/1.050 for an entire DECADE. Albert Pujols has undoubtedly slowed down in the second half of his career, but he’s still dropping dingers on a regular basis and has now tied Willie Mays for the fifth most HRs (660) of ALL-TIME!

Making this play look easy, Brian Anderson snagged the ball off the base from a weird angle, then fired it across the diamond to first for the force out as he was falling in the other direction. Tip of the cap to BA for this play.

It seems like almost everyday, there are outfielders making great plays in the grass and Sunday was no exception as Cedric Mullins, Harrison Bader, and Juan Soto added their names to the list of gold-glove caliber highlights this season.

Alec Mills obviously earned player of the day honors for his no-hitter on Sunday, but he was far from the only pitcher to produce a phenomenal performance to end the week. Complete Game shutouts from Mike Clevinger and Brad Keller along with seven-inning gems from Sixto Sanchez and Lance Lynn (10 Ks) also deserve some credit.

Just about a week after coming off the IL, Gleyber Torres was given the day off on Sunday. That was until the 8th inning where it was a tie game when Aaron Boone decided he needed one of his best hitters to come up in a big spot. Despite a disappointing season thus far in 2020, Torres came through with the clutch pinch-hit RBIs to help lift the Yankees to victory.
