Article Preview from MLB.com: As we inch closer to the Midsummer Classic, the basic fun fact of this All-Star Game becomes more forefront in the mind: This thing is in Colorado. The Home Run Derby is going to be ridiculous. I have always thought they should at least consider having the Home Run Derby in Denver every year, no matter where the actual game is. This is certainly a bad idea for a variety of reasons, but you can understand the appeal of it.

That’s yet another reason to appreciate this year’s. So today, we look at the player from each team who would be the ideal Home Run Derby participant. Obviously, not everyone here will get to be a part of it. But they’d all be terrific. And hey, who’s up for a 30-player tournament at Coors Field? The more the merrier!

Blue Jays: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
He was the runner-up to Pete Alonso at the last Home Run Derby in 2019, and he was just as impressive as Pete. It sure feels like he’s got a real chance to be talked about at this HRD in Denver the way we talk about Ken Griffey Jr. at the last one in Denver.

Orioles: Trey Mancini
Every Home Run Derby needs an unabashed fan favorite, and there is no more ideal nominee for this position than Mancini.
