August 12th, 2021 was remembered for the iconic Field of Dreams game where Tim Anderson hit a movie-like walk-off HR while wearing the throwback White Sox jerseys just like the Field of Dreams movie. The New York Yankees were down 7-4 to the AL Central-leading White Sox entering the 9th inning before Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton both launched 2-run bombs to take an 8-7 lead before Anderson’s clutch dinger occurred as fireworks went off above the corn field while he walked it off.

The Los Angeles Clippers officially decided to bring back Kawhi Leonard on a 4-year max contract despite an impending recovery from a torn ACL that will cause him to miss most or all of the 2021-22 NBA regular season. Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis retired as the Orioles all-time SO leader, Oakland A’s recorded their largest shutout win of all-time, Pete Alonso also annihilated a walk-off HR, while Cam Thomas and Tre Jones both hit clutch game-winners in the Summer League.

See what happened in sports on August 12th last year, headlined by many game-winners in the NBA bubble, HR robberies in the MLB, and the finalization of the playoff bracket in the Eastern Conference. This daily sports article includes real headlines only (no clickbait rumors), all of the best highlights, interesting facts from around the NFL, NBA, & MLB, the main games to watch, top performances of the day, notable birthdays, and a quick recap of significant events on this day in sports history.
