CAL RIPKEN JR. WAS THE MOST RELIABLE MLB PLAYER EVER
Throughout his 21 years playing in the MLB, all of them with the Baltimore Orioles, Cal Ripken Jr. amassed a number of impressive achievements. He started off his career strong by being named AL Rookie of the Year in 1982 and helping the Orioles to a World Series title in 1983. As a rare offensively skilled shortstop, Cal Jr. was incredibly talented on both sides of the ball, winning eight Silver Slugger awards and two Gold Gloves.
Despite all of these accomplishments, the 2x AL MVP’s durability was his most distinguishable trait. Ripken Jr. holds the MLB record for the most consecutive games played with 2,632, surpassing the legendary Lou Gehrig’s previous mark by over 500 games and setting a new standard that will likely never come close to being broken. He certainly earned his nickname “The Iron Man” and has cemented his status as the most dependable player in the history of baseball by not only staying on the field but excelling while on it.
