Earlier this month, Washington placed the franchise tag on Payne. The 25-year-0ld now becomes the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in league history behind the Rams’ Aaron Donald. In 2022, Payne posted career highs in both sacks (11.5) and tackles for loss (21).
