Damian “Dame Time”  Lillard was drafted with the 6th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft by Portland out of the unheralded Weber State. As a rookie, Dame started in all 82 games and averaged 19 points per game, and shot 36.8% from downtown. He has developed into one of the best guards around the league, has been selected to six of the last eight all-star games, and has been one of the most clutch shooters of his generation.

Despite having no finals appearances, Lillard has recorded 24.7 PPG, 6.6 APG, and 37.5% 3P during his career. Dame has come up with some of the most clutch shots in modern NBA history. In 2019, he closed out the Thunder in Game 5 of the First Round with an iconic long-range three. He made two treys with time expiring in Game 5 of the First Round in 2021 against Denver to force overtime, then again in double overtime. Dame has also been selected to six All-NBA teams, continuously proving himself to be among the league’s best.

DAMIAN LILLARD WILL SOON BE THE GREATEST PLAYER IN TRAIL BLAZERS’ HISTORY

COLORS KEY | FULL BLAZERS OUTLOOK

If he isn’t already, Damian Lillard will soon be the greatest player in Blazers’ history. Lillard already holds countless franchise records and owns the top seven seasons with the most 3PM. Dame’s only shortcoming has been his lack of deep playoff runs. With no trips to the NBA Finals and just 1 WCF appearance, Lillard still needs a ring to cement his legacy as the greatest Blazer of all time as Clyde Drexler currently has that advantage thanks to leading Portland to multiple NBA Finals appearances.

Fortunately, after their first-round loss to Denver, Portland hired Chauncey Billups as their new head coach. Coach Billups looks to lead the Trail Blazers on a deep playoff run and hopefully an NBA Championship with the help of Damian Lillard and his clutch shooting ability. Lillard’s natural clutch factor, ridiculous 3-point making ability, and leadership intangibles also give him a not-so-distant chance of cementing himself as a top-5 PG of all-time when it’s all said and done if he can win that coveted ring in Oregon.
