CARL YASTRZEMSKI WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST BOSTON RED SOX PLAYERS EVER

Carl Yastrzemski was under a tremendous amount of pressure from the very beginning of his career with the Red Sox as the presumed successor to the legendary Ted Williams. Needless to say, he did not disappoint. Yaz racked up countless accolades throughout his 23-year career, including 18 All-Star selections, seven Gold Gloves, and three AL batting titles.

The Notre Dame product’s best season came in 1967, when he won the elusive AL Batting Triple Crown by leading the AL in batting average (.326), home runs (44), and RBIs (121). This accomplishment is so rare that it wasn’t achieved again until Miguel Cabrera did so in 2012, which is a testament to its difficulty and prestige. There have been a plethora of talented players in Red Sox history, but there is no denying that Yastrzemski is one of the greatest.
