Madison Bumgarner was drafted by the San Francisco Giants 10th overall straight out of High School in the 2007 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut at the age of 20 in 2009. Bumgarner joined the rotation the following year, and helped the Giants win the World Series over the Texas Rangers with eight shutout innings in game four. Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, and Madbum formed a big three that would prove dangerous as the Giants swept the Detroit Tigers in 2012 thanks to another seven-inning gem from Bumgarner in Game 2.

Mad-Bum exploded the next four years and became a 4x All-Star thanks to a record of 64-37 with a 2.86 ERA from 2013-2016, including one of the best postseason performances in MLB history. In 2014, the Giants would go back to the World Series thanks to NLCS MVP Mad-Bum’s 1.72 ERA over two starts but he was not done there as he would win World Series MVP after an all-time incredible performance.

MADISON BUMGARNER HAD THE GREATEST PERFORMANCE IN WORLD SERIES HISTORY

Madison Bumgarner’s historic 2014 postseason run got started with a complete game, 10-strikeout shutout of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Wild Card. Over 15.2 innings in the NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals, Bumgarner recorded a 1.72 ERA with 12 strikeouts and was awarded the NCLS MVP for his dominant performances. Then on the biggest stage, Mad-Bum proved again that he can come up clutch when his team needs him the most.

In Game 1, he threw seven innings, gave up one run, and got his third postseason victory. The Royals battled the series back to 2-2 when Mad-Bum stepped up again and threw a complete game four-hit shutout to take the all-important Game 5. All he could do is watch his team blow the 3-2 series lead in Game 6, and many thought they would not see Bumgarner make another appearance.

In historic fashion, the 6’4″ lanky lefty entered the game with his team up one run, and threw five scoreless innings to record the Save, winning his third World Series title. The 2007 first round pick had a 2-0 record with a 0.43 ERA and 17 SO in 21.0 IP, lowering his career World Series ERA to the best in MLB history at 0.25. He willed his team to victory and was awarded the WS MVP that cemented his legacy with the greatest World Series performance of all-time.
